Sexy?!

School uniform sexy, says group

KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian group condemned the uniform worn by girls at government schools, saying it encouraged rape and pre-marital sex.

“The white blouse is too transparent for girls and it becomes a source of attraction,” National Islamic Students Association of Malaysia vice-president Munirah Bahari said in a statement.

“It becomes a distraction to men, who are drawn to it, whether or not they like looking at it,” she said, calling for a review of uniform policy so that it did not violate Islamic ideals.

In multicultural Malaysia, home to majority-Muslim Malays as well as ethnic Chinese and Indians, female students at government schools have a choice of wearing a white blouse with a knee-length skirt or pinafore.

They may also wear a “baju kurung” and a headscarf is optional for Malay students.

Munirah said that “covering up” according to Islamic precepts was important to fend off social ills, including “rape, sexual harassment and even premarital sex.”

“This leads to babies born out of wedlock and, to an extent, even prostitution,” she said.

“Decent clothes which are not revealing can prevent and protect women from any untoward situations,” she said, suggesting that girls wear a blouse of a different colour or with an undergarment.

However, the girls themselves also came in for criticism, with the association saying that some used the white blouse to lure men.

“This is the source of the problem, where we can see that schoolgirls themselves are capable of using this to attract men to them,” Munirah said.

“This could see them getting molested, having premarital sex and all sorts of things.” – AFP (www.thestar.com.my)

SERIOUSLY. I've been wearing one of those for 5 years throughout my high school stint and I definitely don't feel sexy at all. It's interesting how local news has become.

Shitty Experience.

A visit to the ladies after a long continuous work today proved shocking as I soon discovered a clump of human waste, in the form of faeces greeting me. So there it was, looking at me as I stumbled backwards. Holding my breath and trying so hard not to look down, I reached forward towards the flushing chain but it must have been there for too long, it wouldn't budge! Seriously, I never knew I could hold my breath for so long!

By the way, can someone tell me why does a kitchen equipment supplier sells male urinal AND actually promote it on their kitchen equipment catalogue? I thought of some possibilities, like, maybe on busy times chefs just doesn't have time to go to the toilet. Maybe thats why chefs are usually male. But then again, I don't really want to know. I just hope the urinal is not next to the stove where they cook my food.

Oh, about the faeces, I got rid of it eventually by dumping the entire pail of water into it. And you think just because you live in a civilized country, everyone is civilized.

Photography.

I wouldn't call it my new hobby or anything. I used to own a thin Sony Cybershot camera which I was proud of at that time but I eventually got frustrated with it because of the quality of photos it produces. I got rid of it once and for all and bought myself a Canon IXUS. It doesn't have enough functions for all those settings and shits but I am happy with it.

I would say the only time I bring my trusty camera along is when I go for holidays, or when I meet up with friends. I don't find the need to bring it along to wherever I go. So leceh. The very first time I used the new camera properly was when I took photos of a concert in Hong Kong and the photos turned out great. Then it was all the food in Japan. Almost 6 months (already?!) since the trip and the photos are still making my mouth salivate!

With people around me getting more into photography, I find myself unintentionally interested as well. Yohei's DSLR was probably the influential gadget that got me interested. From a lousy Sony with 64MB memory card, he upgraded straight to a Canon DSLR with 1Gb card. Not bad for someone who thought his camera display died on him as soon as he arrived in Singapore, only to find out that it didn't - someone (or maybe himself?) changed the display setting.

Enjoyable.

It's been a while since I sat down to enjoy a couple of Cantonese dramas. Within 2 weeks, I completed 2 dramas totaling to 50 episodes. That's 50 episodes x 45 minutes. No wonder I still feel exhausted!

Fresh from completing TVB's The Seventh Day, I must say I was impressed. It started slow and a little boring but it became more exciting and touching towards the end. It was fairly predictable but there were also some unexpected twists. As always, my favourite couple oozed amazing chemistry.

I Need A Massage!

You have no idea how exhausted I was and still am lately. It felt as if I haven't got enough rest since the refurbishment last week.

The cafe looks pretty good now. Interior wise, it gives a warmer feeling. We've got the kitchen extended and moved in stuffs that would help the efficiency and convenience of the 'kitchen crews'. New menu is doing pretty well too and stuffs that we couldn't really sell previously is surprisingly attracting buyers. Pictures does do wonders!
