Yummy Movie.

Totally my kind of movie

It's like a dream come true for me. All those cooking programs on Discovery Travel & Living and AFC just cannot be compared to this. When's the DVD coming out?

And I think I don't mind watching it again in the cinema. 2D, this time.

The Lock.

#%^@$%^*

It was a great contraption. Safe and secure - in fact, it was TOO secure. I'll go more into that later. Driving a carjackers favourite brand - Toyota, you can't blame me for locking my steering wheel all the time. Today's short trip to the veterinary hospital dragged on to 1+ hours because I was stranded in the parking lot with the lock still clamped tight to my steering.

Sometimes, some siblings are just idiots who ask you to 'settle it yourself' while some are saviours. It was a bad day with a little dash of luck because my saviour just so happen to be at that area. The lock wouldn't even budge under his strength so he called the locksmith (who might just saw the damn thing off).

You'll have to give it to Uncle Locksmith. All he used was some metal wires, a wrench, some twisting strength and my steering is free! As for the lock, it will be discarded and rot in some dumpsite! Oh by the way, the this brand of steering lock was really good. Just that mine's a little too old and the gadgets inside are being stretched passed its lifetime.

The Hunt.

Why is it so hard to find a nice non-halal English breakfast place in KL? It's ironic that I am saying this because Departure Lounge itself is a halal brekkie place. Anyway, my point is, where can I find down under inspired eateries right here in KL? And I am not talking about the interior.

Started the day feeling rather sleepy because of last night's in-house drinking/TVB until 3am. Was so excited because we can finally try out Jarrod & Rawlin's weekends only Eggs Benedict (non-halal, baybeh) but excitement immediately turned to disappointment when we discovered that they are closed for Deepavali. Sigh. My precious weekend day off, wasted.

Not satisfied, we rounded Bangsar area, wanting to try out Marmalade Cafe but stupidly somehow decided to head to Delicious Ingredients at Dua Annexe. We soon found out that Delicious Ingredients is a fine dining-ish restaurant and they don't serve Eggs Benedict. Delicious does and they are just a level about D.Ingredients. Can't believe we went all the way, with gps directions and all, just to eat at Delicious. It would've worth the drive if the Eggs Benedict was good but no. My stomach officially ban Delicious. Just too many bad experiences (although the Tiramisu was good but overall disappointment exceeds expectations).

Please do kindly let me know if any of you discovered yummylicious halal/non-halal Eggs Benedict :D

No Nightmares Please.

Just got back from the veterinary hospital 10 minutes ago. Johnny was mauled by the big fat useless good for nothing Paco and ended up with some major tear on his right ear and some puncture holes on the left side of his back. Tell me why I shouldn't slaughter Paco and make claypot soup right now. Oh right, too fat.

It was a panic when my maid discovered the injuries. My parents are not around at the moment but thankfully, my brother is so we figured we should bring Johnny to the hospital since the vet clinic that we usually brings him to is unavailable. The injuries are pretty bad and requires stitches and some grossed out procedures. Poor guy. Hope he gets well soon.

You know, I sometimes wonder how I would react in event of emergency. Will I be sane enough to make the calls that mattered? Today's thing proved that I am. Good to know. Now, I need to make that call to China to inform my dad.....

Quest for Kiwiana.

Yesterday's night out was pretty cool. Not a place that I would've thought of but a little googling helped me decide on some pretty nice location for the Kiwi feel that we've missed ever since coming home. Palate Palette. I was surprised that they serve 42Below Feijoa. I mean, who would know what Feijoa looks/taste like unless you've lived in NZ?

Anyway, what I wanted to mention was this: Who in the right mind would create a chilli cocktail?! I should probably salute the person who thought of the Cili Padi (bird's eye chilli) Passion Martini, where spicy is an understatement. I suppose the extreme spiciness accentuates the flavour of the liquor but all I tasted, or rather felt, was the numbness on my lips. Interesting, really, but it's something I would never order unless I want to lose my taste buds.

Food was good, though nothing to shout about. Ambience was fantastic. Would go back for the chilling out but not so much for dining.

True to the feel, we went for a crawl. Just 2 gates away is the live jazz bar, No Black Tie. Heard of it but never had a chance to check it out. Main instruments that night was piano, trumpet and saxophone (something I wanted to learn when I was younger but thank God I didn't 'cos blowing that thing would make me look like a frog. Go figure.). Their wine list was quite limited and the price was ridiculous! We could go on and on about how much it actually costs back in NZ but well, we're no longer there so...

Regardless, it was something interesting. Yohei, wished you were here though. The fun is different without you trying to get to know some Malaysian girls. Yi Fan knows the truth about Oh Calcutta and she's probably gonna slaughter you when we meet in Taiwan :p

What A Joke!

My brother went off from work yesterday to buy equipments for the cafe. Besides the stockpots, ladles and whatnots, he came back with this hilarious piece of device:

hand-held milk frother

There is nothing wrong with the device itself. Just the memory that comes along with it was hilarious. I've totally forgotten about it until I see this thing. I remember buying it from a $2 shop in Auckland. Nguiyifan, I hope you remember this stupid thing that made us spend $1 each!

3 years after the initial discovery, I can once again confirm that this thing is indeed useless.
